With sincere devotion in thought, word, and deed, we pay homage to the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
Ever since Lord Buddha’s times, all monks of the Buddhist order have entered a summer retreat for three months. Due to the climate and outer conditions, most monasteries in the Himalayan region are only able to provide this opportunity to their monks for one and a half months. Retreatants do not leave the monastery grounds during this period and can thus concentrate more intensively on their studies, meditation, ritual practices, and other Dharma activities. At Karma Lekshey Ling Monastery, we also engage in the summer retreat. This year everyone here completed it with very, very good results.
We wish to whole-heartedly thank our sponsors for their support and for supplying us with food, medicine, and many other necessities, especially during the wonderful retreat. We pray that through this goodness they experience freedom from suffering and pain and always experience well-being that comes from open-mindedness and loving kindness and compassion. We also pray:
May the Dharma spread in the ten directions of the world and Dharma practitioners arise in every corner of all lands. May the lives of the Glorious Lamas and peace leaders be steadfast and firm. May they give the wisdom of loving kindness and compassion to others and always be an example of good qualities to everyone. Most importantly, may His Holiness the XVIIth Gyalwa Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, live long. May His enlightened activities eliminate the darkness of the three worlds and illuminate the path to awakening for countless sentient beings in the whole world. May the weather be balanced throughout the year and the global warming crisis cease for the sake of the environment, for the sake of all animal species, and for the health of every human being. May nobody experience any hardships but live in a land of prayers, contemplation, and meditation, dedicated to the pursuit of inner peace. By accumulating merit and purifying negativities, may all living beings without exception swiftly establish the levels and grounds of Buddhahood.
With compassion, we dedicate any merit we have been able to accrue to sentient beings.
In the name of our Abbot, Venerable Chöje Lama Phuntsok, all pupils, students, monks, and the staff at Karma Lekshey Ling, faithfully yours, Khenpo Karma Namgyal, Kathmandu, Sept. 18, 2009
